Welcome to the Lumbini Child Development Center in Los Angeles.
The Lumbini Child Development Center is a licensed Preschool and a fully accredited Kindergarden. We are committed to offering the community a high quality program in a safe, stimulating environment where children can develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. We welcome all children from ages 2 1/2 to 6 years of age, regardless of race, color, national origin, or ancestry.

Mission Statement
The Lumbini Child Development Center of the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple is a quality child care provider that promotes a safe, nurturing environment for children. Based on principles of our Budhist tradition, our goal is to develop a positive self image, and to support growth through a variety of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual experiences.

Location & Description
The Lumbini Child Development Center is located in the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles. The school is registered with the State of California Department of Social Services as a licensed preschool and fully accredited kindergarten and has served the community at its current location since the temple was built in 1976 to provide services for children from ages 21/2 to 6 years old.
The current enrollment consists of 54 children, with a full capacity of 75 children to care for.

The Staff
The staff is headed by Director Leslie Nicho and consists of five full-time teachers, all with educational backgrounds in child development.

Hours of Operation
School Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with classes run on a set Daily Schedule.
